Louis summary of Alien

Image
Alien - Louis analysis Louis has analysed Alien. From his work, I can see that the writers have used sluglines to identify the location of the scene. I can also see that the writers have put action into the script, but in a different way. The writers have also followed the rule on capitalising names and locations which haven't been mentioned yet. The writers of Alien have also followed many other traditional rules of scriptwriting. All the characters have woken inside a pod. The scene where they haven't arrived home shows the sense of mystery in this film. The structure is clearly linear as they take place after one another. The genre is clearly sci-fi because there are unknown transmissions. Alien is aimed at people who like sci-fi and outer-space.

Page by page summary

Page 1 At the very start of the opening scene, we are introduced to the detective, Barry, and his little family. Barry is portrayed as a family man who is kind and helpful when he needs to be. Page 2 Barry decides to go to the mall in his detective car. As he goes to park the hovering car, an old woman crashes into it, this makes Barry angry, showing his aggression, which is deep down in him. Page 3 Barry is still furious over what happened in the mall car park. He takes an air taxi to the police station. When he arrives there, he quickly rushes inside to the front desk and is greeted by a robot. He demands to speak to his boss. His boss then calls him through, they both discuss what happened. Barry demands a new car instantly, he won’t take no as an answer. Page 4 Without consent, Barry visits a car dealer. He is greeted by a salesman who shows Barry around the stock they have. However, Barry is really interested in a Camaro sitting in the corner ...
